It takes a community.
With your support, we can build a meaningful space that will provide all Chicagoans with the equal opportunity to fix their bike, re-tile their bathroom, or build a garden.
We’re very grateful for your contributions of money, tools, or time.
Have tools you don’t need?
We are actively seeking tool donations! Consider donating new or used tools to us and know that your donated item will serve an entire community of individuals and families. We have a broad definition of what makes a “tool”. Our inventory will include a broad range of tools and equipment for building, fixing, and creating with a focus on equipment that is either bulky to store, expensive to purchase, or rarely used by the average person.
We ask that tool donations meet the following criteria:
the tool will help you accomplish a task or project
in good working condition
movable by a single person (in order to take it home and borrow it)
in demand/asked for by the community
not powered by gasoline or kerosene
The bulk of our tool inventory will be made up of donated tools! Here are some donations we would love to accept:
Compound miter saws
Cordless drills (with battery!)
Ice cream maker
Lawn coring aerator
Motorcycle and car jacks
Photography light box
Post hole digger
Tool donations can be brought to the Tool Library at 1048 W 37th Street during open hours only (please no after-hours drop-offs) on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm. If you would like to arrange another time for a donation drop-off, please email email@example.com
Please note that we cannot accept every tool and we reserve the right to turn away, redistribute, or sell tools we cannot use, easily service/repair, or have space to store.
